Abstract Painting with Cold Wax
Discover the luscious/seductive rich qualities of cold wax medium, oil paints, pigments and other mixed media by exploring new techniques to progressively build up layered abstract paintings. The emphasis will be on the basic understanding of supports, tools, materials. composition and techniques. Students will be encouraged to work in a series, and to work on multiple boards/paper substrates. An atmosphere of experimentation will be fostered. There will be demonstrations and informal discussion about allowing the work to gradually unfold in the process of building up/constructing and breaking down/deconstructing layers, and how to edit. Participants will have plenty of time to paint, notes on techniques will be provided and samples of experimental techniques will be completed during this workshop.

Holy shiznicks, I've just been christened into the world of encaustic by Cheryl McGannon in one of her 2 day workshops. She is a master of the medium and had me at the words "blow torch and melted beeswax"!!! I've a long way to go to experiment with this technique and how to incorporate into my work, but am so grateful to have been introduced to it. Cheryl teaches workshops at her oasis of a studio in Doonan and is a highly sought after QLD artist. She is a flamin legend!!! Book yourself in!
Marg Watt - FANTASTIC workshops if you are contemplating. Just do yourself a favour and learn from Cheryl
