For the cold wax 'Taster' playshops you will be experimenting a lot. You will create six small abstract paintings from start to finish, using a limited palette on Arches Oil paper. If time permits you will have the opportunity to work on a small panel.
You will be learning how to create rich textures, developing depth in you paintings and experimenting with reduction techniques. We will be using oil sticks, caran dache crayons, dry pigments, oil paints and other media, you will be applying your own linear monoprints over the surface of your painting, and so much more. Building layers to achieve a textural surface as well as translucent layers will be covered.
This is a level 1 playshop which means an introductory level of skills required. You need to have an interest in abstract painting and a strong desire to work to your own personal intention. This course is suitable for experienced artists wishing to learn a new technique to compliment their existing practice or beginners.
The course content is comprehensive, notes on processes and where to gather materials will be emailed to you prior to the commencement of the 'Taster' playshop.
All materials are supplied for these 'Taster' playshops. You only need to bring your own lunch, morning teas are supplied.

Holy shiznicks, I've just been christened into the world of encaustic by Cheryl McGannon in one of her 2 day workshops. She is a master of the medium and had me at the words "blow torch and melted beeswax"!!! I've a long way to go to experiment with this technique and how to incorporate into my work, but am so grateful to have been introduced to it. Cheryl teaches workshops at her oasis of a studio in Doonan and is a highly sought after QLD artist. She is a flamin legend!!! Book yourself in!
